Endotoxins - Feed Moldy Hay Recently I was sitting on a plane reading an article in National Geographic about mites and how these tiny creatures have been found on almost all humans. They live in our hair follicles and eye lashes and other places on our body without us ever being aware of them. Which is a very good thing as far as I’m concerned because I’m not too keen to think about these little creatures and the intimate relationship they have with me. The article got me thinking about the horse’s digestive tract and the things that can lurk there. Things that are always there and generally do no harm, that we don’t often consider but that have the potential to cause illness as well negatively impact health and reproduction.

Mallory Canaday - Little Girl When you don’t own your own horse the next best thing is finding a way to be around horses owned by other people. She was the only one in her immediate family interested in horses. However, the majority of her extended family was involved in agriculture so finding her way to the horses was pretty easy. All these years later she is now the Stallion Reproduction and Freeze Technician at the 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, TX.

He will take care of all marketing aspects related to breeding sales while SBSItalia will be solely responsible for the logistical aspects regarding the import, storage and distribution of frozen semen from the entire stallion catalog of this prestigious German breeding farm. Also, breeders will be allowed to bring their mares to the two Italian SBS Affiliate Laboratories, SBSItalia and Centro di Riproduzione Equina Centauro, to be inseminated with frozen semen of particular stallions which are currently only available if bred at Paul Schockemöhle’s (P.S.) facility in Mühlen, Germany.

However, in the process of her search she came across a young stallion which trainer Tommy Serio had in for training. After watching him go for the first time she asked if they would sell him. After some negotiations she purchased the 1997 Bay Dutch warmblood stallion, Popeye K (photo left; Voltaire x Eloretta). Now she was in the breeding industry. Rachel said, “We had never intended to purchase a stallion. So I have had a very steep learning curve!”
