PSER Stallion barnAt Peterson and Smith Equine Reproduction Center in Summerfield, Florida, the breeding season got off to a great start and is now in full swing! Just like the other SBS affiliates, we provide a full line of stallion reproductive services. Although we are certainly freezing semen this time of the year, we are also busy providing cooled semen services on our outpatient and resident stallion clients. One of our resident stallions is Smart Sugar Badger (Smart Little Lena - Badger San Doc). This is our third season standing this wonderful cutting stallion for Flying M Ranch.

Smart Sugar Badger Smart Sugar Badger is a National Cutting Horse Association leading sire and his first 52 performers have earned over $1.8 million! Truly a pleasure to be around, he is gentleman of a stallion who constantly makes us wonder if he has ever done anything wrong in his life! We are excited and proud that Flying M Ranch continues to trust us with Smart Sugar Badger and we look forward to another successful season in 2012. For more information on Badger, please visit smartsugarbadger.net.

This is the time of year that the Embryo Transfer program takes center stage at Peterson and Smith Equine Reproduction Center. Our ET program has also enjoyed a fast start to the season and has sustained its momentum throughout. Our recipient mare herd of over 300 mares has been actively cycling since January and to this point in the season we have performed well over 100 successful transfers. We hope and expect to continue the momentum and success throughout the rest of 2012. If you are considering embryo transfer, it is not too late to enter your mare into our program. Please contact us if you would like any further information.

PSER Interns Finally, we are excited to continue our undergraduate internship program and we have an outstanding group of interns this season. We currently have eight interns representing the following institutions of higher learning; The Ohio State University, University of Georgia, University of Maryland, University of Florida, University of Missouri, and Morrisville State College. They are responsible for the daily care of our client horses as well as our recipient mares. They also assist our veterinarians and staff with our full line of reproductive services. This very successful program allows students to gain more experience in a veterinary setting through complete immersion in the field of equine reproduction before moving onto vet school, graduate school, or other careers in the equine industry.
