We are happy to welcome Dr. Kristin Klohonatz to the team at Select Breeders Services, Inc as the Director of the SBS Affiliate Laboratory Program and Co-Director of Research and Development. She arrived in February 2019 and has been using her time to familiarize herself with SBS protocols and introducing herself to the SBS Affiliate Members.

Kristin was raised in western Pennsylvania and grew up working on a Standardbred breeding farm. She attended Pennsylvania State University (PSU) where she received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences with a minor in Equine Science. During this time frame she continued working at the Standardbred farm while also completing a breeding internship at Virginia Tech’s MARE Center. After PSU, she attended Colorado State University where she completed her Masters and PhD in Animal Science (Equine Reproductive Physiology) under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Bruemmer. Her research focused primarily on maternal recognition of pregnancy in mares and the early communication between the embryo and maternal uterine environment.

We are very excited to have Kristin on the team and look forward to her contributions to the SBS Affiliate Program and our ongoing efforts in research and development.
