QREC located in Doha, Qatar is developing a program which will allow QREC to provide affordable, high quality semen freezing services through affiliation with SBS.
The Al Zubara Breeding Farm is still under construction but we are now concentrating our efforts into setting up the new affiliate lab as soon as possible.
The services we will eventually provide are the following:
- Collecting, freezing, storage and distribution of frozen semen
- Insemination with fresh, chilled, or frozen semen
- Breeding soundness and fertility evaluation
- Diagnostic and treatment of sub-fertility
- Evaluation and management of the high risk pregnancy
- Fetal sexing
Stefania Bucca DVM
Qualified in 1977 from the University School of Veterinary Medicine Torino, Italy, Dr. Stef Bucca practiced in Ireland for 18 years (from 1978 to 1995), as resident veterinarian for two large thoroughbred stud farms (Airlie Stud, Rathbarry Stud), shuttling to the southern hemisphere for 6 additional breeding seasons. Stef then returned to Italy to undertake a clinical research study on feto-placental well being, while working on a Standardbred farm (1996-1998). She then moved back to Ireland in 2005, first as a reproductive consultant for the Irish Equine Centre and then joined Somerton Equine Hospital, opening a new equine reproductive facility and referral centre, including an SBS affiliated (SBS Ireland) stallion station. Since January 2013, Stefania has been employed by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, as a reproductive specialist.
Author of several articles and book chapters with main interests in equine reproduction, physiopathology of the equine pregnancy, ultrasonography and perinatology, Dr. Bucca holds an adjunct professorship in Equine Reproduction at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pisa, Italy.
