About

Facility PhotoRood & Riddle began as an ambulatory practice in Lexington, Kentucky in 1981 and established a full-service equine hospital in 1986. Today the practice is known and respected throughout the world for innovative and highly skilled treatment of horses. Rood and Riddle continues their tradition of excellence into the twenty first century serving as a referral center for horses requiring specialized medical and surgical care and providing ambulatory care for all breeds and disciplines. With the original hospital in Lexington, Kentucky and satellite hospitals in Saratoga Springs, New York and Wellington, Florida, Rood & Riddle maintains an unwavering commitment to quality, both in the care of horses and in our relationships with clients and the community.

In 2001 Rood & Riddle expanded its reproductive services to accommodate the increasing demand for advanced reproductive techniques. Under the direction of Michelle LeBlanc DVM, Dipl. ACT, Rood & Riddle constructed what is known today as the LeBlanc Reproduction Center. Staffed by board-certified theriogenologists, the center specializes in care of the infertile mare and advanced techniques such as embryo transfer and oocyte harvesting. Each of the doctors has gone through rigorous training and met all guidelines established by The American College of Theriogenologists (ACT), which certifies specialists in animal reproduction.  Rood & Riddle also provides stallion owners assistance with standing stallions, semen collection and evaluation, as well as cooling, freezing, and shipment of semen.

Lab PhotoTo meet the increasing need of advanced reproductive techniques, Rood & Riddle established a reproductive complex on 200 acres in central Kentucky and is located just ten minutes from our Georgetown Road hospital.  This facility includes a stallion complex (top photo) and mare breeding facility accommodating mares and stallions for short or long-term reproductive management. These state-of-the art facilities allow us to expand with the increasing demands of our clients.  The facility is home to over 300 carefully selected recipient mares for use in embryo transfer.  All recipients undergo appropriate quarantine and health screening, are of sound reproductive health, and are vaccinated and dewormed according to accepted industry guidelines.  All services are overseen by four (4) board-certified theriogenologists who have advanced training and expertise in equine reproduction.
