Glen Valley Equine Reproduction Center (GVERC) is a full-service reproduction center offering a complete range of mare and stallion services to fit the needs of both the commercial breeder and the individual hobbyist.  Our reproductive center is serviced by Dr. Tracy Plough, a board-certified theriogenologist.  All of our reproductive services are designed with flexibility in mind.  Breeders can choose to have GVERC handle all of the details of their breeding program, utilizing the center to perform the services that are not easily performed at home or anywhere in between.

Reproductive Services

Glen Valley Equine Reproduction Center is happy to offer a wide variety of reproductive services for both mares and stallions.  We are proud to be an affiliate lab of Select Breeders Services.

We are experienced and equipped to work with both the fertile or subfertile mares and will design a treatment/management protocol that provides mare owners with the best chances to produce a live foal.  Once pregnancy is achieved, we are equipped to assist owners in all phases of gestation.  Our mare services include:

  • Comprehensive diagnostic reproductive evaluations
  • Breeding soundness/fertility evaluations
  • Treatment of sub-fertile mares
  • Embryo transfer
  • Embryo vitrification
  • Fetal sexing
  • Low dose insemination
  • Twin reductions
  • Uterine culture/biopsy/cytology

  • Oocyte aspiration for transfer to an ICSI center

We also offer a complete range of stallion reproductive services which allows owners to utilize their stallions in fresh, cooled/shipped, or frozen semen programs. Our stallion services include:

  • Breeding soundness exams
  • Stallion collection and Management
  • Phantom training
  • Cooled semen evaluation
  • Shipped semen service
  • Semen freezing – SBS Affiliate Lab
  • Sub-fertile stallion management/ consultation
  • Epididymal sperm processing and freezing, post castration.

Dr. Tracy Plough, DVM, DACT

Dr. Tracy PloughDr. Tracy Plough was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She has always had a passion for horses as well as science. Therefore, it was just natural for her to combine these two passions into veterinary medicine. She is a 2007 graduate of the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College. Following graduation Dr. Plough returned to BC where she worked as an associate and completed an internship in equine reproduction. In 2008 Dr. Plough traveled to Austria and worked as a resident at the University of Vienna with a focus on equine reproduction. Tracy later returned home to private practice, where she worked as an associate veterinarian and continued her advanced reproductive training. She took an opportunity and traveled to Australia in 2013 where she worked with several large TB breeding operations as well as a large volume embryo transfer facility.

Dr. Plough qualified and became board a certified specialist in equine reproduction and a Diplomate of The American College of Theriogenologists in 2014. She went on to establish her own practice, Plough Equine Veterinary Services in the greater Vancouver area of British Columbia Canada, which she owned and operated until joining the Team at Pioneer Equine hospital in Oakdale CA in 2017. During her time in California Dr. Plough ran the daily operations of the stallion center as well as managed the ART mare programs for that hospital.

In 2019, Tracy returned home to BC and joined the team at Meadow Lane Equine Clinic.  Bringing with her, the opportunity to expand the current breeding services and offer advanced reproductive technologies.

In 2021, Tracy reestablished Plough Equine Veterinary Services to continue offering her advanced reproductive services throughout the greater Vancouver area of British Columbia..

Outside of work you will find Tracy hanging out with her husband Kevin and their dog Karma or enjoying time with her horses.

Kevin Porlier, Farm Operations Manager

Kevin PorlierKevin Porlier has been working alongside his wife, Dr. Plough, for her entire career and has many years of experience handling horses, being the on-call vet technician and managing the day-to-day operations of a farm.  As well, Kevin brings more than 29 years of experience in business operations from working with fortune 500 companies his entire career.
