Description
WSSB Equine Reproduction, LLC is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to provide stallion reproduction services to an established producer of equine cooled and frozen semen. This position will require travel to local and long-distance facilities to process and freeze stallion semen in our mobile laboratory. WSSB will provide on the job training, but the ideal candidate will be confident, reliable, flexible and organized.
This position reports to the Managing Veterinarian and senior freezing technicians for daily operational management. It includes general laboratory maintenance, semen collection and mobile laboratory work.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with daily stallion collections
- Educate clients on frozen semen processes and recommend stallion management practices
- Keep clients updated on their stallion's progress including but not limited to post-thaw motility and frozen semen inventory
- Manage mobile lab and truck maintenance including but not limited to scheduling oil changes, vehicle registration, and other routine maintenance
- Keep equipment and workspace clean and well-maintained
- Communicate effectively with senior freeze technicians about schedule, inventory and ordering
- Daily data entry into Microsoft Excel, WiseOption and PRISM inventory Management software
- Assist with processing of semen collections for cooled semen distribution
- Assist with processing semen collections for frozen semen storage and distribution
Overall Laboratory Maintenance
- Equipment maintenance and knowledge of proper working equipment
- Daily lab setup, cleaning and restocking
Beneficial Skills Required
- Comfortable driving a truck and bumper-pull trailer
- Capable of working self-directed for extended periods of time
- Basic computer skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
