On February 19, 2014 Select Breeders Southwest in Aubrey, TX hosted a seminar about genetic diseases and testing. The wacky winter weather gave us a break and it turned out to be a warm and altogether pleasant day for our seminar. A congenial crowd of over 55 people made up of veterinarians, horse breeders and college students filled the beautiful western themed meeting hall at Lantana Lodge for this highly anticipated event. Our guests were treated to gorgeous views of Lake Ray Roberts and mingled happily over a delicious selection of light fare before finally taking their seats for an interesting presentation by Dr. Sharon Spier from UC Davis California.

Aubrey is described on billboards and in travel guides as “Horse Country, USA”, a perfect location for Select Breeders SW. In fact, based on the work being done at SBSW, that slogan could more accurately read “Horse Country, Global”. Year after year, SBSW has been shipping frozen semen from multiple breeds and disciplines worldwide; our 2013 roster for collection included the biggest stallion names in QH racing shipped to South America, champion cutting horse semen to Australia, New Zealand, South America and the European Union, and semen from prize winning Arabian show horses shipped to Qatar, Israel, the EU and Australia. Some of these champions stand at Select Breeders SW Stallion Center; others are collected from our Mobile Labs, but all of this globally bound semen is stored and then distributed from our state of the art facility in Aubrey, Texas.

The new foals born at our facility, the new pregnancies for the mares we bred, the new stallions we managed for this breeding season and the new collections we will perform this Fall for frozen semen processing.
